Biography
Thursday, March 27th, 2008Percussionist Amir Lavie, a native of Israel, has appeared in solo concerts, chamber music events and with various orchestras throughout North America, Europe and Israel.
Amir has won numerous awards,including Israel’s Composer’s Association Excellence award and the Manhattan School of Music concerto competition, giving the American premiere of Anders Koppel’s marimba concerto.
Amir is principal percussionist of the Israel Opera Orchestra, and is regularly invited to play with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Equally at home as a soloist, Amir has presented recitals in New York, Tel Aviv and Copenhagen, and was featured soloist with several orchestras.
An avid performer of chamber music, Amir took part at the Spoletto festival, The Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival and Autumn music days in Warsaw among others.
Amir holds degrees from the Tel Aviv University, Manhattan School of Music and is a graduate of the Soloist Class at the Royal Academy of Music.
